Butterfly Shield and Bar Code 8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning

Karen and Ingrid met several years ago as business colleagues and have been inseparable ever since.  They share an intense love for creating magical, meaningful things and watching out for those who need help.

Soon after meeting, Karen shared a story with Ingrid about a term of endearment she used with her mother. Karen and her mom used “831” as their secret code for “I love you” - 8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning - during one of the most challenging times in both of their lives.  Karen’s mom had breast cancer and after being in remission from her first diagnosis, it returned in 1994 and had metastasized throughout several areas of her body.  Four months after her mom began another round of chemotherapy and radiation, Karen herself was also diagnosed with cancer of the lymph nodes - and both began undergoing treatment at the same time. Karen expressed that she always felt this was a blessing, because it allowed her to fully share and understand what her mother was going through.  Karen’s mom lost her battle in October of 1995, and after experiencing such a tremendous loss, Karen found comfort in discovering 831 in the most unexpected places, taking it as a sign that her mother’s love carries on.

Her touching story resonated deeply with Ingrid, in part because of the health challenges her younger sister, Rebecca, has been facing during the past 10 years. Rebecca has Pulmonary Fibrosis, a progressive lung disease that involves irreversible scarring of the lungs. Rebecca is currently on the list for a double lung transplant and is hoping to receive “the call” for the transplant any day.  Now Ingrid and Rebecca are sharing 831's with one another during this difficult time.  Love is a healing force and sometimes, just by sharing our stories, we provide hope and inspiration to those going through their own challenges.

These shared challenges brought Karen and Ingrid closer together, and during the past year, they experienced several astonishing coincidences with the special numbers, 831, that further deepened their connection.  Convinced that love knows no boundaries and that there was something beautiful being given to them - a message too beautiful not to share with the world - they explored how “8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning” could touch and help others.  After days of creative collaboration, they discovered that by rearranging the special numbers to 8-1-3, it formed the shape of a butterfly – the symbol of change, renewal, and now, "I love you."  Karen and Ingrid are able to bring the One Meaning message to you in their beautiful designs.  It is their sincere hope love really can change the world. That change starts with their policy to give back 8.13% of all proceeds to a different highlighted charity each month.  In essence, by turning love into a butterfly, it is able to take flight and land on loved ones, as well as weary shoulders when it’s least expected and needed the most.  As One Meaning grows, so will its charitable contribution; the vision is to one day be able to donate 81.3% of all proceeds to a deserving entity each month, such as causes or people in need and organizations that promote peace, kindness, tolerance, respect and love for humanity.  Think of it as the One Meaning movement.

What do they say?  One beat of a butterfly's wing can set into motion minute changes with profound results.  We think so too. It’s easy to just spread your wings and let your love fly!  Thank you from all of us at One Meaning for your support.

Psst...Karen has been in remission ever since and now shares her legacy of love with her beautiful daughter.  Now that’s a miracle in itself.
